The Atlanta Hawks are acquiring point guard Jeremy Lin from the Brooklyn Nets via trade, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.

In return, the Hawks are giving the Nets Isaia Cordinier (who plays overseas in France), while receiving future draft picks in return, per Wojnarowski.

The soon-to-be 30-year-old Lin signed a three-year deal worth $36 million with the Nets in the offseason, but his time in Brooklyn was entirely marred by serious injuries. He was limited to 36 games in 2016-17 due to a nagging left hamstring injury. Unfortunately, the injury woes didn't stop there.

Lin's ruptured a patella tendon in his right knee during the team's season opener, which ended his 2017-18 campaign. Lin scored 18 points and four assists in the contest. The Nets finished with a porous 28-54 record, unable to fill the void led by Lin offensively.

The Hawks have plenty of salary cap and are in rebuilding mode, so taking on the final year of Lin's deal (a cap hit of just over $12.516 million, per Spotrac.com), and landing an additional draft pick makes plenty of sense from their standpoint.

Lin will now be joining his seventh team since his rookie 2010-11 season. He became an NBA sensation during the 2011-12 season, coming off the bench (for an injured Iman Shumpert), and averaging 14.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Lin helped the Knicks surge in the second half of the season to finish 36-30, good enough to finish seventh in the Eastern Conference.

Now, Lin joins a struggling Atlanta team that won just 24 games last season. He'll have the chance to play a strong leadership role as the Hawks try to rebuild, after missing the playoffs for the first time since 2007.

Thus far, Lin has averaged 12 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, so he should provide sufficient depth and scoring for the Hawks, who need a player of his caliber. And they get a extra pick to go along with Lin.
