While there are plenty of rumors surrounding a number of unhappy WWE stars, Chris Jericho has said disgruntled WWE talent shouldn't think AEW means an easy job or a free out from their contracts.
Chris Jericho recently spoke with Gary Cassidy of Sportskeeda and was asked about whiny and disgruntled WWE Superstars possibly signing with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Jericho admitted there will certainly be some WWE Superstar they would love to have, but others they probably wouldn't take.
Saying the plan for AEW is not to just grab popular names or castoffs from WWE, Jericho said, "It's different. We're not doing it that way where anyone who doesn't like what they're doing in WWE is automatically guaranteed a job in AEW."
Jericho might not have been speaking about any one particular star, but WWE fans will immediately look at names like Sasha Banks, Luke Harper, Dean Ambrose, The Revival and others who have either used social media lately to complain about their standing in WWE or notified fans they have requested their releases from WWE. Instead, Jericho said, "We will look at every talent on an individual basis. There's some guys we'd love to have in WWE, and there's some guys we probably wouldn't take.
What This Means
Jericho is a major name and important figure in the upstart AEW. If he's suggesting AEW won't make it a policy simply to hire former WWE talent, it's likely true. It's a sentiment that has been echoed by Cody Rhodes and others. Rhodes has said that AEW wants to give opportunities to names some fans haven't heard of an build their own stars.
The key for AEW will be in finding a good balance.
Jericho added, "Obviously we haven't even had a show yet and our roster is already very deep. When you talk about the Double or Nothing show, how many people can you book on that show? If you have 60-70 guys, you end up with the same problem as WWE."
