It has been one year since Brian Christopher passed away, and his father Jerry Lawler marked the occasion via a touching tribute on Twitter.

Unfortunately, as wrestling fans, we have grown accustomed to our heroes passing away far too soon. The grind of being in the business takes its toll on the men and women within it more than those of us outside of it will ever truly know. Whether it be physically, mentally, or emotionally, there are thankfully far more things in place to help those who are struggling in the present day.

That doesn't mean wrestlers aren't still affected though, especially those who have been around for a number of years. This time last year, we were struck with the news of three wrestler deaths in very quick succession. Brian Christopher, Nikolai Volkoff, and Brickhouse Brown.

Christopher's death was the hardest to swallow of the three for many fans due to how young he was. The former WWE Superstar, also known as Grandmaster Sexay, was only 46 years old when he passed away. This past Monday marked the one year anniversary of his death, and his father Jerry 'The King' Lawler marked the occasion by posting a touching tribute to his son on social media.

"I want to thank everyone who thought about Brian today. We'll never forget you, Brian," wrote Lawler on Twitter. The tweet was accompanied by two photos, one of Lawler and Christopher together, and another of the latter's grave. Raw announcer Renee Young and fellow former WWE Superstar Brian Keffron, aka The Blue Meanie, sent their love and thoughts to The King and Christopher in the comments beneath the post.

The real-life relationship between Lawler and Christopher was one that wasn't utilized much on WWE television while both men were with the company. For that reason, some fans believe the two weren't close. That may well have been the case, or perhaps the father and son were just lucky enough that Vince McMahon didn't choose to exploit their familial link on screen as he has done with so many others. Either way, we'll be thinking of both Brian and The King today. RIP Brian.
