Jerry 'The King' Lawler will return to the commentary table at Royal Rumble along with JBL and Michael Cole to call the men's 30-person match.

Depending on how long you have been watching wrestling and what era you grew up with, there are certain voices who provided the soundtrack to the action in the ring. For many of us, it was the iconic duo of Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. The Hall Of Famers were the Raw announce team during the height of the Attitude Era for WWE.

While neither man is a full-time announcer for WWE any longer, the two of them are still currently under contract with the promotion. In fact, Lawler renewed his deal with WWE just last week. King revealed that he hadn't heard anything from WWE until he messaged them two days before his contract was due to come to an end. The next day, he received a fresh deal in the mail that runs for twice as long as he is used to and also includes a pay rise.

RUMOR: JIM ROSS WILL BE A PART OF AEW'S ANNOUNCE TEAM

Even though Lawler has only appeared sporadically on WWE kickoff shows as of late, it seems that Vince McMahon might have bigger plans for the veteran going forward. We even saw a cameo from King on Raw this week. The Hall Of Famer was caught leaving the boss's office. Raw did take place in Memphis, Tennessee on Monday after all, and King is basically a god in that city.

Lawler laid out the situation with his new contract on the latest episode of his podcast, Dinner With The King. He also dropped some news about this year's men's Royal Rumble match. "They sent me a text message and I am going to be calling the men’s Royal Rumble. Me, Michael Cole and JBL," King revealed. While it's not the commentary combination Lawler is most known for, it is one he was a part of on Raw for quite a while.

WWE hasn't confirmed the news themselves, but Lawler is often brought back to call the action during the men's Royal Rumble match. The more interesting tweak is that JBL is being brought in too. The former WWE Champion left the announce desk amid accusations that he had basically been bullying Mauro Ranallo. While JBL has been back on WWE TV since, this will be his first time back behind the announce desk if it happens.
