The New York Jets pulled off one of the biggest Week 1 shockers, leaving Ford Field with a convincing 48-17 victory against Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions.
New York's young and revitalized secondary picked off Stafford four times, leading to one of the most shocking Monday Night Football blowouts in recent memory. Lions fans were seen heading towards the exits in the third quarter, while "Jets" chants began to break through the stadium.
So what was the key for the Jets secondary against Stafford? According to linebacker Darron Lee, Gang Green was able to pick up on Stafford's signals, allowing them to read the play and come away with the game-changing picks.
"We were calling out their plays as he was getting up to the line," Lee said, via Rich Cimini of ESPN.com "We knew his signals. We knew everything. That's just preparation as a defense. ... It seemed like we were in his head as a defense."
Lee wound up with two interceptions in the contest, including a 36-yard pick-six to help the Jets put the game away. New York also record their first defensive touchdown in five years, per Cimini.

Things got off to a horrible start for the Jets, when rookie quarterback Sam Darold threw a 37-yard pick-six to Qandre Diggs just 20 seconds into the game.
But the third-overall pick from this year's draft settled down and completed 16 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Isaiah Crowell powered the ground game with 102 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries.
The Jets haven't made the playoffs in eight years, and they only have one winning season since 2011. It's easy to overreact after Week 1, but this Jets team really does look different compared to past squads.
If the Jets defense is half as good as it looked on Monday, and if the offense can be above-average in 2018, then this team might get back in the playoffs sooner than we believe. For all we know, the New England Patriots might have troubles winning a 10th consecutive AFC East division.
