It's been over three weeks now since Jimmy Butler requested a trade, but it's starting to look like the four-time All-Star will open the season with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Butler and the T-Wolves open their season against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. Their home opener takes place on Friday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and there's a real possibility that Butler gets booed by his own fans.

But the 29-year-old Butler talked to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, and said he's not the least bit worried about being met with boos. If anything else, Butler seems to be encouraging it.

"Sure. Go ahead, boo me. It ain’t going to change the way I play," Butler said. "That’s going to make me smile more. So please, come on with it."

Though Butler isn't going to sit out any games, it may be in the best interest of Minnesota to trade him in order to avoid any more drama. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported earlier this week that Butler got into a heated practice with teammates, yelling at his coaches and teammates and selling GM Scott Layden that they can't win without him.

Wojnarowski reported that Butler's original preferred landing spots were the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks, since all of them have the cap space to give him the super max contract.

However, Wojnarowski and Marc Stein of the New York Times have reported that the Miami Heat were pushing for a Butler trade. The latter said the Heat offered Josh Richardson and a first-round pick for Butler, but a potential trade fell through over the weekend.

Butler helped the Timberwolves end a 14-year last season, but his tenure in the Gopher State is destined to be short-lived. The only question at this point is how long he'll wear a Minnesota uniform throughout the 2018-19 season.
