The Philadelphia 76ers are taking struggling second-year point guard Markelle Fultz out of the lineup in Wednesday's game against the Orlando Magic, with trade acquisition Jimmy Butler taking his place.

Per ESPN.com's Tim Bontemps, head coach Brett Brown announced that Butler will be part of the the new-look the starting five along with Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, Wilson Chandler and J.J. Redick.

Butler was acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday, with Dario Saric, Robert Covingston, a second-round pick and Jerryd Bayless heading over to the Gopher State.

The 29-year-old Butler averaged 21.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 10 game appearances with the Timberwolves this season. He joins a Philadelphia team that sits at third in the Eastern Conference with an 8-5 record - despite ongoing three-point and outside shooting woes from the likes of Simmons and Fultz.

The latter had a terrible free throw performance against the Miami Heat on Monday, which made headlines across social media. The No. 1 pick from 2017 hasn't been able to figure out his shooting form in the NBA, despite former trainer Drew Hanlen working with him extensively in the offseason.

Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype reported on Monday that Fultz had parted ways with Hanlen, however. It's now up to Fultz and/or 76ers coaches to simply find a way in getting his shooting mechanics down again.

What This Means

With Fultz out of the lineup, perhaps it's Brown's way of telling his sophomore point guard to start figuring it all out. The 76ers trade up from the No. 3 spot to take Fultz first overall last year, but the results haven't been there yet.

Remember, the 76ers didn't want to package Fultz in a trade for San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard. It's clear the front office isn't ready to give up on Fultz, but the addition of Butler also indicates they aren't going to wait around forever.

Philadelphia entered the 2018-19 season as a favorite to win the Eastern Conference. With Butler now joining Simmons and Embiid, it's time for Philly to start showing they're a true title contender.
