Jimmy Butler returned to Minnesota Timberwolves' practice this week and launched a shocking tirade at teammates, coaches and management alike.

But, according to Jon Krawczynski and Shams Charania of The Athletic, Tom Thibodeau might not have been surprised as the player had warned him of his intention to cause a stir in training to drill home his desire to leave.

The shooting guard reportedly strode into practice on Wednesday and ordered everyone to hurry up as he was only going to be there for an hour, then he grabbed some of the team's third stringers, including Luol Deng, James Nunnally and Jared Terrel, and took on their best players, whom he actually beat.

Butler's trash talking was constant during the scrimmage, but the worst vitriol was reserved for Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, per reports.

At one point, he yelled at general manager Tom Layden: "You f***ing need me, Scott. You can't win without me." And, upon leaving the practice court, he stated: "I run this s**t."

The 29-year-old has since explained his outburst in an interview with ESPN's Rachel Nichols.

"I haven't played basketball in so long. I'm so passionate. I don't do it for any reason but to compete. All my emotion came out in one time," he said. Was it the right way? No! But I can't control that when I'm out there competing. That's raw me, me at my finest, me at my purest. Inside the lines."

Butler had gotten close to the Miami Heat move he's been wanting since voicing his desire to leave Minnesota. But negotiations fell through last weekend after Thibodeau attempted to get more from Miami than was previously agreed.

The player has reiterated his stance and has no plans to stick around. However, he is prepared to play next season if he does not get his wish, albeit in an extremely caustic atmosphere.

"It's not fixed. Let's be honest," he replied after being asked if his relationship with the team could be mended.

"It could be. Do I think so? No."
