Perhaps no other WWE Superstar has made an impact in WWE over the last year like Jinder Mahal has. A former WWE Heavyweight Champion and recent U.S. Champion who just moved to Raw, Mahal spoke with Lilian Garcia on her show Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia and during his interview, shared a few secrets of his success.

He started by discussing his disappointment with being in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33 but noted that he was pleased to go to the end of the match and be showcased in a segment with NFL star Rob Gronkowski. Mahal said he built on that momentum to set bigger goals for himself.

"It was cool, definitely, but part of me, I'd be lying if I'd say it wasn't disappointing in a way because I wanted to be on the main show," he admitted. "Actually, one of the things that I did in this last year is that I write down my goals." Mahal explained it was these goals and making a list that kept him focused on improving on a regular basis. It's a habit he believes the most successful people in the world practice.

To make sure he stays on task, he creates a way to hold himself accountable. He added, "I'm a firm believer that if you put it on paper and it reminds you to work hard every day, especially every day if you write down your goals. ... So, every time I write down my goals I realize that I have to hit the gym, I have to eat right, I have to improve in the ring, I have to give it 100%, I have to improve on my promos. These are the things that go through my head daily because I work hard on them."

He also explained that not being able to mark of his accomplishments and the inability to check off what he was able to complete and where he stayed focused is a huge motivator. "Not only that, but I write down my goals and I check it off; whether or not I ate right, work out, check it off. At the end of the day, I write down an 'L' or a 'W', whether or not the day was a 'Loss' or if it was a 'Win'."

Mahal is not nearly at the level he says he wants to achieve in WWE. He's proud of what's he's accomplished thus far, especially when you consider no one gave him a snowball's chance in hell of winning the World Title. That said, he wants to do it nine more times and even then, his goals may change and get loftier. At the age of only 31, he's got lot of time left to shoot for the stars when it comes to his wrestling career.

Fans shouldn't doubt that Mahal can't reach some of the goals he's set for himself. He's reinvented himself in a way that's impressive, the decision-makers in WWE seem to like him and he's got plenty of time with a level of commitment that appears to be seldom found in today's WWE Superstars.
