Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is growing into one of the NBA's elite superstars, but the 24-year-old still feels like the league is holding him back from reaching another level of dominance.

Embiid - who's also developed a reputation as one of the game's bigger trash talkers - explained to Michael Lee of The Athletic what he doesn't like about the NBA. Embiid also voiced just how badly he wants to "dominate" the game:

"I want to dominate. It’s fun. One thing when I started playing in the league, I saw that a lot of guys are friendly. It’s OK to be friendly, especially off the court. But on the court, I want to dominate.

So me always talking trash...nowadays the league is kind of soft. I’m trying to dominate and if you dominate, you’re going to be hated because you’re going to talk so much stuff."

Embiid is piecing together an MVP-like season, averaging 28.8 points, 12.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. Only Stephen Curry is scoring more points per game, and only three players have averaged more blocks per contest than Embiid, who has the 76ers at a respectable 8-6 on the young season.

The 76ers also traded for four-time All-Star Jimmy Butler in a blockbuster deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday. That should help Embiid and the reigning 52-win 76ers reach another level of dominance this season.

Embiid has already engaged in trash talk with Detroit Pistons star center Andre Drummond, even saying he "owns real estate" in his head. Embiid has simply earned the right to trash talk - given how well he's performed for his 76ers in the early going of the 2018-19 season.

The 7-foot center was drafted by the 76ers with the No. 3 pick in 2014. Because the 76ers told fans to "Trust the Process," Embiid earned the "Process" nickname, and Philadelphia is on the rise because of his talents.

With Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz also in the fold, the 76ers have arguably the best young core in the NBA right now. Once the inevitable breakup of the Golden State Warriors takes place, the 76ers may wind up being the next dynasty in the NBA.

The league may be "soft" to Embiid, but it hasn't stopped him from getting off to a red hot start to the season. With Butler now joining this star-studded core, the sky is the limit for these young 76ers.

So sit back and enjoy "The Process," as Embiid continues his dominant season.
