New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski has yet to announce his plans for next season. Following the team's Super Bowl 52 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Gronk told reporters he was going to reflect on his future, and wouldn't rule out retiring from pro football.

It's been over a month since the NFL season ended, and there haven't been any updates on Gronk's possible future. On top of that, there's already been massive speculation that he could join the WWE.

The two-time Super Bowl champion is close friends with WWE superstar Mojo Rawley, who told TMZ Sports "It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of WHEN," Gronk joins the wrestling industry.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE would be interested in signing Gronkowski, but they won't "outbid" for his services. Now, a WWE legend gave his thoughts on the idea of Gronkowski joining the squared circle.

Speaking to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, John Cena shared his take on Gronk and the WWE:

“If Gronkowski wants to come on board, I think he’d be a perfect fit. He does not lack in the energy department, so I think he’d be just fine. I’m a fan of the Patriots, so I hope he keeps catching footballs. He’s really good at that. Hopefully Gronkowski can have a career as long as Tom Brady.”

Gronkowski already has a bit of experience in the WWE. During last year's Andre the Giant, Gronk didn't take well to Jinder Mahal slapping his drink out of his hand. Gronkowski responded:

Though Gronk would easily be welcomed to the WWE in open arms by fans, wrestlers and other officials, he still has to formally announce his retirement from the NFL. Multiple reports (namely from Tom Curran and Jeff Darlington), Gronk's retirement decision is a serious matter, and he thought about it during training camp last year.

Despite being just 28 years of age, Gronkowski has already suffered numerous severe injuries - including a torn ACL, a herniated disc, two broken arms, plus concussions and other knee injuries.

If he's decided that he can't put his body through any more punishment in football, then Gronk could easily decide to body slam opponents for the WWE instead. For now, we closely continue to monitor his possible retirement decision.
