John Cena is scheduled to compete at WrestleMania 35 in East Rutherford this year, though WWE has yet to announce his opponent for the big show at Metlife Stadium.

There were some rumors going around that Cena would be facing R-Truth, with the latter receiving a major push as of late - including a recent run with the United States Championship.

But according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Cageside Seats), Cena and R-Truth are not going to be facing off at WrestleMania. Instead, Meltzer said that Samoa Joe, Randy Orton and A.J. Styles are possible candidates to face Cena on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Cena is a 16-time World Champion and needs just one more victory to officially break Ric Flair's record. Obviously, WrestleMania would be the ideal stage for it to take place, but we'll have to see if Cena winds up facing the WWE Champion then. The current title holder is Daniel Bryan, who's set to defend his championship against Kevin Owens at Sunday's Fastlane pay-per-view.

The 41-year-old Cena is currently filming his latest film, Playing With Fire, in Vancouver. Even though he hasn't been seen on WWE television much lately, fans can at least look forward to seeing him compete at WrestleMania once again. We should see him back on programming soon enough, since WWE will have to start building up its 'Mania matches.

Cena already feuded with Styles back in 2016-17, and the future Hall of Famer has clashed with Orton numerous times in the past. If WWE is looking to change things up a bit and find something new for Cena, it makes sense to pit him against Samoa Joe - one of the top rising stars on the main roster.

What This Means

WrestleMania is only a month away now, and only a few of the matches have been announced thus far. There are multiple opponents that make sense for Cena, but it's anybody's guess what WWE decides. We'll find out soon enough.
