John Cena proposed to Nikki Bella after their mixed tag match at WrestleMania 33 last year, and the two are getting ready to tie the knot and spend the rest of their lives together.

The 40-year-old Cena was previously married to Elizabeth Huberdeau, but they divorced after three years. The couple had no children, and Cena maintained for a long period of time that he never planned to be a father.

Last summer, he explained to US Weekly (h/t Hollywood Life), why he hadn't changed his stance on having children:

“No, right now it hasn’t changed. I can barely raise myself, so I just don’t know how good a dad I’ll be. I guess that’s my biggest fear. I know it’s a natural human progression to want to have kids, but right now, I’m just focused on what’s in front of me.”

But in a recent interview with Good Morning Britain (h/t WrestlingInc.com), Cena admitted that he has reconsidered the idea of being a father. The 16-time World Champion explained how his role on the upcoming film Blockers may have changed his mind:

"Especially in something like [Blockers], because the story is about these parents doing what they think is right to try to protect their children. But the story is also about being confident as a parent, being confident in your children that you have done well, and they also are doing well.

And the bond between parent and child can be a wonderful thing, even through some pretty tough situations. So, it absolutely has made me consider being a parent more."

For what it's worth, Nikki's twin (Brie), and husband Daniel Bryan had their first child together in May of last year - a daughter named Birdie Joe. Perhaps seeing his future in-laws become parents may also prompt Cena into deciding he wants to be a dad.

And never doubt Cena's ability to change his decision, either. He was originally reluctant to propose and get married to Nikki, but that all changed last year.

Cena's done plenty of work for charity and has done everything in his power to be a good role model for children. Cena has worked closely with many sick children, and ensuring their dreams come true.

There's no doubting that Cena would be an excellent father, but that's a personal decision that he and Nikki will have to make. They haven't gotten married yet, so it could be a while until they decide about starting a family or not.
