Backstage Update On John Cena's Status For Raw Reunion

WWE has loaded up on returning wrestling legends for tonight's Raw reunion in Tampa Bay, and you can add one more marquee name to that list.

According to John Pollock of Post Wrestling, 16-time World Champion John Cena will be on the show tonight. It was previously reported that Cena, along with The Rock, would be absent from the show.

But "the Face that runs the place" will be here after all, marking his first WWE appearance since WrestleMania 35. There, Cena brought back his Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick and interrupted one of Elias' concert performances. Cena hit him with the Attitude Adjustment before exiting the show, and he's been out of of WWE ever since.

Cena has only wrestled on a part-time basis over the last five years. Like The Rock, he's found major success in Hollywood - thus limiting Cena's schedule to wrestle. His latest film, Playing with Fire, is set for release on Nov. 8.

The 42-year-old Cena last wrestled on the Jan. 14 episode of Raw, where he lost a Fatal 4-way match that included Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre and Finn Balor. The latter won the match and earned a Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble, which he lost.

Along with Cena, D-Generation X, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Melina, Mark Henry and Lilian Garcia are among the many returning legends for tonight's episode of Raw. There are also a pair of matches being advertised: Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon and Becky Lynch & Seth Rollins vs. Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans in a mixed tag match.

What This Means

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Cena when he returns tonight. Perhaps WWE will build towards his next match, or at least drop a hint on who he could feud with down the road. We'll just have to see how it plays out, but simply having Cena back for the big show is exciting enough.
