Johnny Gargano wrestled his last match in NXT.
Johnny Gargano is one of the hottest performers in the entire wrestling world, and he has been ever since he found his groove for the first time after Tommaso Ciampa broke him back in Chicago. Unfortunately, he could still never win the big match, and on the past episode of NXT it cost him, and it cost him big. Not just another shot at the title or anything, it cost him his entire NXT career.
After going 0-4 against Andrade “Cien” Almas, including their five-star classic at NXT Takeover: Philadelphia, Gargano was given one final chance. There was a catch, however— he had to put his NXT career on the line. Thanks to some involvement from the Psycho Killer, it looks like his career in developmental is done.
As you’d expect from these two, the match was fantastic, but in the final moments, Johnny Wrestling’s former DIY partner made his presence felt, cracking Gargano with his crutch, leading to the Hammerlock DDT and the 1-2-3, much to the dismay and anguish of the NXT crowd. As Gargano walked to the back heartbroken, Ciampa again returned, waving goodbye to Gargano with the biggest possible smile on his face.
So where does this leave Gargano? Does he join 205 Live, which is slowly becoming a great show to watch? Does he join Smackdown Live or Raw? Is this just a work to get to Ciampa vs. Gargano at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans? The smart money would be on the last one, but NXT is crowded with talent at this point with Ricochet, EC3, and others all waiting in the wings too. It wouldn’t surprise us if Gargano ended up somewhere on the main roster. Still, many trust NXT to tell the Ciampa/Gargano story correctly, so it has us for the first time in a while truly questioning what the WWE is going to do.
So what do you guys think? Is Gargano main roster bound? Do they need to bring him back for the huge Ciampa match in New Orleans? Are you just going to stop guessing and sit back and enjoy the ride? Let us know all your thoughts and ideas in the comments below.
