Jon Moxley revealed during an interview with Wade Keller was that the original plan for him in WWE was not to be part of The Shield.

Moxley sat down for another telling interview, this time with Wade Keller of PW Torch. During Part I of the two-part interview, Moxley spoke about a number of topics not covered in the Talk is Jericho interview.

Outside of the fact that it was clear Moxley was not a fan of working with Brock Lesnar, why things got so weird during the Stone Cold Steve Austin podcast or why WWE writers are pointless, Moxley told Keller what WWE's original plan was for him. In short, he was not to be part of The Shield.

Moxley explained the original plan for his character was to feud with Mick Foley. The program started with him being a mystery man behind an online feud Foley was in, but then it was discovered Foley wasn't going to be medically cleared to wrestle again.

Once Foley couldn't go, that idea was dropped and Moxley was pushed aside until The Shield idea came along.

What This Means

A Foley vs. Ambrose feud would have been one the fans would have loved to see but that it never happened, Moxley admits was probably for the best.

Mox explained how excited he was to do the bit with Foley and said that in his head, this was going to be the best feud in WWE history. He had worked out promos in his head and was excited about promos Foley might have come up with, but he quickly realized neither was going to get to do those promos.

Once he realized that's not how things worked in WWE and that writers were going to write all the promos for them, he admitted how quickly he would have gotten frustrated, aired his frustrations and likely gotten fired.

Being part of The Shield kept him from speaking out and made him more valuable to WWE. He was less easy to dispose of if WWE believed he was too big a handful to manage.
