Jon Moxley might have signed a three-year contract with AEW, but that doesn't mean he is going to stay there for the next three years.

Jon Moxley shocking the wrestling world when he showed up at Double Or Nothing almost feels like a lifetime ago now. Since then, we have seen Mox win the IWGP US Title and wrestle his first match for AEW. Next up for the man formerly known as Dean Ambrose is NJPW's G1 Climax and then a match with Kenny Omega at All Out.

Like a few others at AEW, Moxley has the option to compete for a few other promotions outside of the place he has a contract with. That contract is three years long, apparently. However, according to Rajah, Moxley has the option to end his deal after one year. That could mean his career gets another shake-up in 2020.

In fact, there have been some reports that WWE is under the impression that Moxley would only be stepping away for a year. Well, at least that was the assumption before his tell-all interview with Chris Jericho. Since then, there have also been reports that Moxley showing up at DoN was a huge surprise to everyone at WWE. His contract had ended and the show was in Las Vegas, you think someone would have put two and two together.

The rumored reason as to why WWE thought Moxley would return in 12 months also suggests that was never the case or Mox was simply lying. To heal his brain and body. Those of you who watched his barbaric match with Joey Janela at Fyter Fest will have seen that his body isn't doing too much healing right now.

Initially, Vince McMahon and Triple H were apparently so sure Moxley would be back that they already had plans for him at the 2020 Royal Rumble. It's probably safe to assume the former WWE Champion will not be showing up for that. Not only will he not be a year into his AEW contract by that point, but the promotion's weekly show will have only been on the air for three months. He's going to want to stick around for a little longer than that to see if AEW can be successful.
