Kane Makes Rare Out-Of-Character Appearance At WWE Live Event

Kane made an appearance at a WWE live event recently, but it wasn't as The Big Red Machine that we all know and love.

There are a handful of Superstars in WWE right now that continue to show incredible longevity. The likes of The Undertaker, Triple H, and Kurt Angle. It won't be long until we also start to include Brock Lesnar, John Cena, and Randy Orton in that category. However, even the very best can't go on forever. We are starting to see those older stars compete less and less.

Another man who has been in WWE for an incredibly long time is Kane. We were led to believe that we had seen the last of The Big Red Machine inside a WWE ring after the man behind the mask, Glenn Jacobs was elected mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. However, in October of last year, Kane wrestled once more. The former WWE Champion teamed with Taker to take on The Game and Shawn Michaels at Crown Jewel.

Jacobs' willingness to reprise the Kane character and travel to Saudi Arabia came as quite a surprise to many fans. Considering the controversy and political unrest between the US and the Middle Eastern country, it would have made sense for a mayor to give the trip a miss. Kane made that trip though, and it was actually for a more honorable reason than most might have assumed.

WWE promised The Knoxville Public Safety Foundation $100,000 in return for Kane's appearance. This week, at a live event in Kane's constituency, the surefire Hall Of Famer returned to WWE with some representatives from the foundation. As Jacobs, the mayor of Knox County, rather than Kane, he presented the cheque. Jacobs later labeled the moment his proudest in a WWE ring.

Before becoming mayor, Chris Jericho asked Kane whether he would continue to wrestle if he was elected. At that time, he said he wouldn't have time. Even though Kane has gone back on that and wrestled once since becoming mayor, we now know it was for a reason that directly related to his political role. Maybe if WWE promises charitable donations in the future, we will see Kane wrestle again in 2019.
