Kane is still planning to compete at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia if the show goes ahead despite political backlash.

2018 has marked the dawn of massive WWE shows being staged in foreign countries. It isn't the first time WWE has done so, of course, but it seems as if they're going to be a much more regular occurrence. There have already been two so far this year, one in Saudi Arabia and another in Australia, and a third is scheduled to take place on November 2, 2018.

That third show will also take place in Saudi Arabia, but WWE's deal with the country has been shrouded in controversy from the very start. There is obviously a vast amount of money changing hands, hence WWE being able to convince Brock Lesnar to travel halfway around the world and even to coax Shawn Michaels out of retirement. However, women are not yet allowed to compete on the shows.

RUMOR: HULK HOGAN TO APPEAR AT WWE CROWN JEWEL

On top of that controversial topic, there is now the serious subject of a missing journalist to deal with. Jamal Khashoggi of the Washington Post has gone missing in Saudi Arabia, and it is assumed by many that he may have been murdered. That has caused many US senators to urge WWE to not only cancel Crown Jewel, but for Vince McMahon to terminate his lucrative deal with the Saudi Sports Authority completely.

It has also left WWE Superstar Kane, aka Glenn Jacobs, in a tricky situation. Jacobs' day job nowadays is as the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. However, he is scheduled to fly to Saudi Arabia to compete alongside The Undertaker at Crown Jewel. Jacobs has told Knox News that should Crown Jewel go ahead as planned, at this moment in time he still intends to compete on the show.

Jacob's representative also told Knox News "Mayor Jacobs won’t speculate on Mr. Khashoggi’s disappearance; however, he and his family are in the mayor’s thoughts and prayers." It likely came as quite a surprise to many that Jacobs appeared as Kane at all following his election. He was likely offered a hefty sum to do so though, especially since it is for an angle leading to Crown Jewel. It's a tricky situation for the new mayor, and arguably one that he can't really win.
