Kane has refused to rule out the possibility of him continuing to wrestle even after being elected mayor.

The 51-year-old, whose birth name is Glenn Jacobs, has been quite successful as a performer in the WWE and can boast being a three-time world champion and 12-time world tag team champion. But he's about to put himself to the test in a different arena and is possibly on the brink of a mayoral appointment in Knox County, Tennessee.

The wrestler and politician was recently interviewed by Pro Wrestling Sheet and revealed that he would still be up to wrestling even if actively working as the Knox County Mayor.

“I never rule anything out,” he said with a laugh after being thrown the idea of a mayor competing in a WWE ring. “I think it would be great to have a PPV here in Knoxville. We haven’t had one in forever. If there’s a PPV, it would be an honor for me to take part in that.”

Jacobs hasn't been in the ring since WrestleMania, when he participated in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal (won by Matt Hardy). And, although he was set to feature during the Greatest Royal Rumble, a wee injury pulled him off the card.

On the political front, the 2010 Money in the Bank winner is the front-runner in the race for the mayor's seat, having won his primary by 23 votes. He credits his lengthy career as a wrestler with making him the leader he is today, giving his kayfabe brother The Undertaker a special mention.

“The most important thing about leadership is to set an example," Kane continued. "Undertaker — talk about learning how to be a professional. This guy is always there, always worked hard, took a lot of pride in what he does.”

He also noted that the WWE has done a lot to change people's perception of wrestlers, given the success some of its stars have gone on to find outside of the ring.

“I don’t think that the wrestling thing is what it once was,” he added. “We’ve had some people that have been so successful like Dwayne [Johnson] and John Cena doing all the stuff that he’s doing that perception is changing and rightfully so.”

“That gives me a lot of satisfaction. Hopefully, I’ve done my little bit to destroy that unfortunate stereotype.”

From all indications, the folks in Knox County are poised to ring in a Big Red Republican Mayor when elections take place in August. Yet, based on what Kane is saying, that doesn't mean he's ready to give wrestling up just yet.
