Shortly after the Toronto Raptors acquired Kawhi Leonard from the San Antonio Spurs in a blockbuster trade, ESPN's Chris Haynes reported that the All-Star lacked a desire to play for his new team.

But according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski (h/t Chris Walder of theScore), the two-time Defensive Player of the Year is "warm to the idea" of playing for the Raptors. Wojnarowski did report after the trade, however, that Leonard is still bent on signing with his hometown Los Angeles Lakers in free agency next year.

The Raptors also acquired Danny Green from the Spurs, while shipping franchise star DeMar DeRozan, big man Jakob Poeltl and a protected first-round pick. The Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Lakers were all widely mentioned as possible trade candidates, but ESPN's Brian Windhorst said none of them were willing to part with their core roster players.

Toronto is coming off an impressive 59-win season, but their perennial Kryptonite - LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers - eliminated them in the postseason for a third straight year.

Head coach Dwane Casey was fired and replaced with Nick Nurse. Now team president Masai Ujiri acquired a top-five player in the NBA by dealing the best player this team has had over the past decade.

Even if Leonard only plays one year for Toronto, the risk carries plenty of potential award. The Celtics and 76ers are deeply talented, but none of them carry a superstar on the same level as Leonard - the 2014 NBA Finals MVP and champion.

Toronto has made the playoffs in five consecutive years, but they have only won four playoff series, which isn't good enough for a roster this talented. The Raptors are banking on Leonard to get them over the hump and reach their very first NBA Finals in 2018-19.
