Former Golden State Warriors big man David West says he sees Kevin Durant remaining with the reigning NBA champs past this season.

West, who retired at the end of last term following two championship campaigns with Steve Kerr's side, spent 15 years in the league and there has been a bit of speculation over a potential return.

The ex-forward spoke to 95.7 The Game this week and touched on Durant's future, as well as his own. And he seems confident that there will be no changes to their paths.

"I would say Kevin Durant is back with the Warriors next season," he said. "I think KD's comfortable here. Obviously, I think things may change depending on how the year ends up, but I think he likes the area. I think going to San Francisco fits - nice city, this area fits him, he's comfortable here.

"It's just my opinion - I don't think he's going anywhere."

Durant, meanwhile, has given little indication as it relates to his upcoming free agency but has vowed to remain transparent when the time comes. His argument with Draymond Green last month is thought to be something which could factor into his decision next summer; West, though, says things wouldn't have gotten that heated had he still been around.

“I thought the huddle was too loose," he explained. "You’ve got to cut those things out in about three to five seconds.

“My instinct is always to jump in between guys.”

West helped the Dubs win two straight titles but decided to call it quits after last season. He reckons they will achieve the three-peat at the end of the current term but made it clear he has no plans to return to the team.

"Yeah. I'm picking them again," he declared. "I'm picking them again."

Asked what his response would be if Steve Kerr called and asked him to suit up again, West revealed that he is very unprepared for such a circumstance, and that is exactly what he would say to the Warriors head coach.

What This Means

There's really no telling what Durant will do at the end of the season but the Warriors remain the favorites to secure his signature in free agency.

The All-Star forward will have no shortage of suitors next summer, with the Lakers, Clippers and Knicks thought to be the most interested teams. A third ring with the Dubs, however, is likely to convince Durant the Bay Area is where he needs to be.
