Fans who watched Kevin Owens return to SmackDown Live on Tuesday may have noticed he beat Daniel Bryan with a Stunner. Vince gave K.O. permission.

Using finishers and other popular wrestlers moves without permission is kind of a big deal in professional wrestling. When you're stealing from one of the best the business has ever seen — Stone Cold Steve Austin — you may really want to watch your step when it comes to the fanbase.

Kevin Owens returned to WWE last night on SmackDown Live and is seemingly back as a babyface. He was handpicked by Vince McMahon to take Kofi Kingston's place at Fastlane versus Bryan and in a tag match where Kofi and Owens defeated Bryan and Rowan, Owens used a Stone Cold Stunner finisher to pick up the victory. Speculation is, not only did Owens have permission to do so, he was advised to by Vince McMahon in an effort to get him over with the audience.

According to Dave Meltzer on this week’s Wrestling Observer Radio (via Sportskeeda), WWE gave approval for Owens to use the Stunner and he will continue to use the Pop-Up Powerbomb in his arsenal. Meaning, fans may be seeing a lot more of Owens using Austin's moves. Meltzer is suggesting that Vince sees the Stunner as such a good finisher, it will help Owens get over as a good guy even though he's essentially screwing over fan-favorite Kingston.

As Owens tends to do, he ran with the subtleties and tweeted Austin after the match.

What This Means

It will be interesting to see what WWE has planned for Owens. Is he going to stay a babyface or will WWE swerve everyone and turn him heel, eventually costing Kingston a shot at the title and stealing one of the most popular finishes in WWE history?

The latest speculation is that Kingston's removal from Fastlane is only a temporary setback and that he may get a shot at Bryan down the line.
