Kevin Owens Injured: WWE Superstar To Require Surgery

The knee injury Kevin Owens suffered on Raw this week was not just an angle and he will actually be out indefinitely so that he can undergo surgery.

A certain section of this week's Raw was dedicated to heel turns. Early on in the evening, Bobby Lashley demonstrated heelish tendencies as he defeated Kevin Owens, compounding the turn by attacking KO's knee after the bell had rung. Right after that, The Bella Twins also ventured to the dark side by turning on their partner for the evening, Ronda Rousey.

It seems that WWE saw an opportunity when it came to the Lashley/Owens situation. As mentioned above, Lashley focused on the already hurt knee of Owens after the match. It turns out that The Prizefighter's knee was not only hurt for storyline purposes. KO is now on the sidelines as his knee is hurt for real and will require surgery.

John Pollock of Post Wrestling initially reported that the attack on Owens' knee was so that he could have time off to undergo surgery. However, at the time of typing this, it is unknown exactly how long KO will be on the shelf. It will be the third time he has had to have knee surgery in the past three years.

Lashley 'causing' Owens' injury actually works out quite well for WWE. KO's good friend Sami Zayn is also currently out with an injury, and Owens insinuated on Raw recently that Lashley caused that injury too. With any luck, Owens and Zayn's returns will coincide with each other and both men can return to take down a heel Lashley who will presumably be running riot on the Raw roster by then.

As for Lashley, if Raw is anything to go by then he is finally embracing his dark side and also his very annoying hype man, Lio Rush. After decimating KO, the former ECW Champion bumped in to Finn Balor backstage and interrupted his interview. It seems as if the Irishman will be his next target, once Balor is done fooling around with Bayley in the Mixed Match Challenge.
