Kevin Owens has spent practically his entire career on the WWE's main roster as a heel, and the former Universal Champion is ready for change.

There have been signs of a babyface turn in the past, but it hasn't fully happened yet. Speaking on Lilian Garcia's Chasing Glory podcast (h/t Ringside News), Owens talked about why he's ready to go from bad guy to good guy.

"I’ve been a heel for so long now, I personally am ready for something different, Owens said. "I also would love to see how successful I can be as a babyface...You know I got a tiny taste of it and because of what the show needed I had to go the other way and I’m trying to make that as good as I can, but I still have that need to find out if I’m right."

Owens did show signs of turning good on this week's episode of SmackDown Live. He opened the night by hosting Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre on The Kevin Owens Show. Dolph Ziggler later came out and confronted Owens - while suggesting he enter a hot dog eating contest.

Owens responded by telling Ziggler that at least he could win the contest - something The Show Off rarely does when he competes in matches. That led to many cheers from the SmackDown crowd, which could finally signal that Owens is about to become a good guy.

Even though he's been pushed as a heel character, Owens has earned some positive reactions from the crowd. When he became the Universal Champion and formed an alliance with Chris Jericho, Owens received often received the babyface treatment from the WWE Universe.

Owens required knee surgery and took time off in order to undergo surgery on both his knees. There were signs that suggested he would come back as a babyface - namely when Bobby Lashley turned heel by attacking Owens. However, the latter has spent ample time clashing for Kofi Kingston's WWE Championship. And of course, Kingston is among the top babyfaces in WWE right now. But following this week's episode of SmackDown, it's not crazy to think that Owens will finally turn good guy again soon.

What This Means

It makes perfect sense for Owens to eventually make the change to babyface. He has strong microphone skills, is over with the crowd and has top-notch wrestling abilities. Owens has excelled as a heel, but after a while, change is necessary. Hopefully, WWE will realize this and give Owens the chance to show he can flourish as a babyface.
