Sami Zayn was only back from injury for 24 hours before his path crossed with Kevin Owens yet again. His best friend and most bitter enemy.

Just before Fastlane, WWE decided to bring Kevin Owens back into the fold following a long time on the shelf. Fast forward to now and we are still unsure as to why that decision was made. KO was awarded a WWE Title shot originally intended for Kofi Kingston and hasn't done much of anything since. He didn't even feature on the WrestleMania card.

His good friend Sami Zayn, who has been out injured for a similar amount of time, was saved until after WrestleMania. We saw Zayn for the first time in months this week on Raw. The Canadian featured in a losing effort to Finn Balor in a match for the Intercontinental Title. He also made a brief cameo on SmackDown Live.

It turns out the in-house fans actually got to see a lot more of Zayn than those of us watching on TV. After the show went off the air, he and Owens competed in a match. You can check out a clip below of what happened after the match. KO won and then delivered a Stunner to the defeated Zayn just for good measure.

Those who have been watching WWE, and wrestling in general, for more than six months will know that these two have a long and storied history together. Both of them are from Montreal, Canada and came up through the Canadian independent system together. Their careers have effectively run in tandem to each other, right up until them both signing for WWE within a short time of one another.

Although incredibly good friends behind the scenes, Zayn and KO's rivalry inside the ring has continued in WWE. The two have already put on some incredible matches and there's a chance that is set to continue. Fans in Brooklyn may well have seen the beginning of the next chapter of this pair's story. On the other hand, WWE might have been wise to the fact that this match was the perfect way to end a long weekend of wrestling for some of those in attendance.
