Kevin Owens appeared in a vignette on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw and revealed that he would be back in a month, though the former Universal Champion isn't sure which brand he'll be assigned to it.
But it sounds like the WWE has huge plans for Owens once he's fully recovered from knee surgery and cleared for a return. According to Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Cageside Seats), Owens will come back as a babyface.
On top of that, it was added that Owens might even compete at WrestleMania 35. That show is still two months away, so the 34-year-old superstar has time to recover and get ready for the big show in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Owens was written off of television in October after being attacked by Bobby Lashley, solidifying a heel turn for the latter. This was done so that Owens could undergo surgeries on both his knees. He's been out of action for approximately four months now.
Though Owens has spent his career on the main roster as a heel, he's actually received many positive reactions from the crowd - especially during his run as the Universal Champion.
Owens and Sami Zayn moved over to the Monday Night Raw brand after WrestleMania 35 last year. WWE didn't book anything special for any of the two superstars, with Owens continually getting squashed by Braun Strowman - while Zayn engaged in a lackluster feud with Lashley.
With rumors that a handful of superstars in WWE aren't happy with their roles, we'll have to see if they start to push Owens and Zayn more. Both superstars were mega talents in NXT, but for the most part, they've been widely underused on the main roster. Perhaps that'll change when they both return.
What This Means
Before Owens won the Universal Championship in the summer of 2016, it was said that Vince McMahon was extremely high on him. Now that K.O. is about to return, we'll see if WWE gives him that big push again.
