The former Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins proved to be a player who is willing to give up some money in order to be with a successful franchise. A new video showcases why Cousins decided to turn down a $90 million offer from Jets before signing with the Vikings.

It has been already more than five months since Cousins signed with the Minnesota Vikings. However, before the beginning of the free agency, the quarterback decided he wanted to have a camera crew following him around throughout the whole free agency process. And the first episode of the final product was released on the Vikings website this week and reveals some interesting information.

In the 14-minute video, the new Minnesota player explains how important is for him to not only play for a coach who is going to win games, but also one with whom he can have fun throughout the process.

“For me it’s important to not only be with the guy that I think can help us win but to be with the guy that I think it can help us win and make it enjoyable”

The 30-year-old left a $30 million three-year fully guaranteed contract from the New York Jets, to sign with the Vikings for $28 million per year. In the episode, Cousins explains that at the end of his career he wants to look back and have more wins in his professional career than money in the bank.

“How much should I make it about the money? (Cousins asks rhetorically) As a retired player looking back do you wish you had made more money or you had won more games? … The hope would be that this isn’t a decision for two or three years. This is a decision for decades. It could be a place where we end up staying and raising our kids. This is a life-altering decision.”

Last season, the Vikings finished with a 13-3 record and reached the NFC championship where they lost against the reigning champions the Philadelphia Eagles, whereas the Jets won only five games, missing the playoffs for the seventh consecutive year.

If Cousins was seeking for wins over money in his new team, he made the best decision signing with the Vikings.
