Despite the well-documented beef with his former teammate, Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant has offered to train Shaquille O'Neal's 15-year-old son, Shaqir.

Shaunie O'Neal - Shaq's ex-wife of nine years - told TMZ Sports that the five-time NBA Champion is willing to help Shaqir, who is attending Crossroads school in Santa Monica. Shaqir will be playing with LeBron James Jr., the son of the world's greatest basketball player.

"Kobe always offers ... we're just so far from each other, but he always offers," Shaunie said.

Now, Shaqir is only 15 years of age, and there's still time for he and Kobe to work out some training time down the road. For now, there's another O'Neal that looks destined to follow his father's footsteps and make it big in the NBA.

That would be 18-year-old Shareef O'Neal, a 6-foot-9, 210-pound power forward who is playing at UCLA this upcoming season. Shareef also attending Crossroads school and was listed as a five-star recruit by ESPN and Rivals.com.

Bryant and O'Neal were together in Los Angeles from 1996-2004, becoming arguably the most dominant and unstoppable duo in NBA history. They led the Lakers to three consecutive NBA Championships from 2000-02, plus another Finals appearance in 2004, a loss to the Detroit Pistos.

Despite their on-court success, Bryant and Shaq had a long withstanding rivalry. Both players tried outshining the other, and they never stopped taking jabs at each other during interviews with the media.

Even legendary head coach Phil Jackson was unable to repair the damage between the two Laker icons. When all was said and done, Shaq requested a trade and was sent to the Miami Heat in 2004. He'd help them win the NBA Championship in 2006. As for Kobe, he'd finish his career in LA and led them to NBA titles in 2009 and 2010.

The two men have seemingly buried the hatchet. Shaq hugged Kobe following the last game of the latter's career two years ago. The former also said he owed the latter an "apology" and that he loves Kobe for the kind treatment he gave to Shareef.

The rivalry between Shaq and Kobe appears to be over. Perhaps Kobe's training with Shaqir will begin down the road.
