Kofi Kingston has now been a Tag Team Champion for longer than any other Superstar in WWE history.

The New Day has been doing all sorts of good for WWE's tag team division ever since the trio first joined forces back in 2014. In that time, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E have won the Tag Team Championships five times while putting on tag team masterclasses with the likes of The Usos, The Bar, and The Wyatt Family.

The fourth of those five Tag Team Title reigns was a record-breaking one for the purveyors of Booty-Os. Their reign atop the tag division was the longest in WWE history, surpassing the record that Demolition had previously held for almost three decades. Less than a week later, at Roadblock: End Of The Line in 2017, that record-breaking reign came to an end at the hands of Sheamus and Cesaro.

One New Day member in particular now holds another record as of this week. On Tuesday, Kingston became the WWE Superstar with more days as a Tag Team Champion than anyone else in the company's history. The former United States Champion has held a Tag Title for 954 days during his career as highlighted by WWE India's Twitter account, surpassing previous record holder Billy Gunn.

Gunn previously held the record of 953 days, a full three weeks more than the man who now finds himself in third place on 932, Mr. Fuji. Kingston's record will only continue to grow for a little while yet at least. The next time he and the New Day are due to defend their Tag Team Titles is at Super Show-Down on Saturday, October 6, 2018. If they can survive that then Kingston will likely be eyeing November 10, 2018, which will be day 1000.

When we first reported on the potential of Kingston breaking the record, we were unsure that WWE was aware of it. Clearly it is, and maybe that means there will be some sort of celebration on SmackDown Live tonight. New Day has been one of the focal points of Tuesday nights in recent months and is one of the blue brand's most valuable assets, plus they have a Super Show-Down title defense to build to.
