Kofi Kingston's 11 year journey reached its pinnacle at WrestleMania as he became WWE Champion for the first time.
Some might say that Kofi Kingston's journey to his WWE Title match at WrestleMania started when he replaced Mustafa Ali at Elimination Chamber. However, in reality, it started 11 years ago when he signed with WWE. Every time it looked as if he had made his way to the top, he would bump into that proverbial glass ceiling.
Despite the numerous roadblocks thrown in his way by Vince McMahon, Kingston was adamant that this time his story would not end the same way. He and his New Day buddies made sure that one way or another, Kingston would be in the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania. They achieved that, and then Kingston did one better.
Not only was the long-tenured Superstar in the match, he won it. Kingston had to continue to battle odds throughout the bout too. With Daniel Bryan reeling and on the floor at ringside, Rowan stepped in and stood between the now former champ and the challenger. Luckily, Big E and Xavier Woods were on hand to even the odds. The pair softened up Rowan, and Kingston finished him off with Trouble In Paradise.
The match was then able to continue and after some more back and forth, Kingston ultimately came out on top. Although WrestleMania continues to march on as we type this, we can't imagine there will be a more emotional moment tonight. After all three members of New Day shed a few tears in the ring, Big E and Woods revealed that the old WWE Title was back, complete with Kofi nameplates.
The heartfelt moments didn't stop there either. Kingston's two sons then joined him in the ring, and Woods capped things off by presenting the new champion with some brand new WWE Title-themed New Day merch. We all dreamed that it might happen, but most of us probably thought WWE wouldn't actually go through with it. Thankfully they did and right now, KofiMania is running wild in WWE.
