Former WWE superstar Kurt Angle has showered praise on Chad Gable following the wrestler advancing to the King of the Ring semi-final.

Gable defeated Andrade on SmackDown on Tuesday night to move on to the next stage of the tournament and many fans have enjoyed watching someone considered to be an underdog finally stake a claim in the promotion.

Angle, though, claims he never thought Gable was an underdog and know's how talented the 33-year-old really is.

“To me, @WWEGable was never an underdog," he tweeted on Tuesday night. "I knew early on how great he is, and was. He’s now getting the opportunity to prove how f’ing great he truly is. They say he’s the next Kurt Angle. He is not!!!! He’s Chad Gable, and he’s gonna win King of the Ring!!!! #itstrue #KOTR2019”

Angle had previously highlighted the importance of winning the King of the Ring tournament as it sparked his career in WWE in the early 2000s.

“The winner of the King of the Ring will most likely be in the hunt for the World Title,” he told fans in a Q&A on his Facebook last month (h/t Sescoops.com). “I’m not going to mention who needs to win it because every single athlete in the tournament will need to win it. If you look at previous winners, most of them conquered the WWE after they won the King of the Ring.”

Gable Could Really Pull This Off

Gable is now set to face Elias after the guitar-toting wrestler beat Ali. If he manages to get past that stage, he will go on to face the winner of Raw's semi-final between Samoa Joe, Baron Corbin, and Ricochet at Clash of Champions on September 15.

Joe is the most dangerous man left to get past and it will be a difficult ask either way. But Gable's riding some good momentum here and could possibly be crowned King in under two weeks.
