It's been over a year since WWE released Kurt Angle from his contract as a backstage producer.

In mid-April of last year, WWE conducted a long series of budget cuts amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. They released dozens of employees, including longtime referee Mike Chioda, many superstars and several backstage producers and on-air personalities.

Angle had moved into a backstage producer role following his retirement from in-ring competition. He wrestled his final match against Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35.

Angle is no longer under contract as a WWE producer, but the company has been interested in keeping him around in some capacity.

During an "Ask Kurt Anything" segment on AdFreeShows.com (h/t Lennard Surrao of Sportskeeda), Angle revealed that Triple H recently offered him a training role over at NXT.

"It's something that I enjoy doing," the WWE Hall of Famer said. "You know, Triple H offered me a job I believe too, you know, train wrestlers. He wanted me to come down once a month to NXT. Nothing transpired from it, but you know, maybe in the future, there might be some possibility. I like training people. I just don't have a lot of time right now to do it. Believe it or not, even including in this pandemic, but I'm good at training people. I'm good at teaching people stuff."

Angle recently stated that he doesn't plan on signing with AEW, noting that he wants to remain loyal to WWE. Though he didn't give away any details, Angle also stated that he's working on "something" with WWE.

Back in October, Angle also revealed that he was offered the chance to manage Riddle following the latter's move to SmackDown. However, Angle decided to pass on the opportunity.

Fellow WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels works as a trainer at the Performance Center. Also, Triple H has talked to The Undertaker about possibly working as a full-time trainer at NXT.

Wouldn't it be something if current and future NXT talents had the fortunes of training under three of the all-time greats? Only time will tell if the Olympic Gold Medalist and/or Undertaker soon join Michaels.

Angle May Be Sticking Around In WWE Long-Term

WWE offered Angle the opportunity to manage Riddle as well as an NXT training position. Even though he's not working as a producer anymore, it definitely looks like Angle is here to stay for a while.
