Kurt Angle returned to Raw on Monday night dressed up as El Conquistador so that he could get one over on Baron Corbin.
Even though there is still Evolution to go before WWE once again heads to Saudi Arabia, we know more about the Crown Jewel card than we do the all women's PPV. On this week's Raw, a title match between Nikki Bella and Ronda Rousey was announced, and Lita and Trish Stratus's respective Evolution matches were inexplicably merged into one tag team matchup.
Meanwhile, the Crown Jewel card already has two World Title matches, D-Generation X versus The Brothers of Destruction, and also its very own World Cup. We also already know two Superstars that will be competing in the World Cup. John Cena was the first name announced, and Baron Corbin held a battle royal on Raw to decide who would fill the second of Raw's four spots.
The acting GM used it as yet another opportunity to abuse his power. Corbin filled the ring with enhancement talent, supposedly from around the world, and then proceeded to add himself to the match. What the former NXT Superstar didn't anticipate was who exactly was hiding under El Conquistador's mask. The wrestler, dressed from head to toe in gold, spent almost the whole match outside the ring.
Once everyone else had been eliminated, the luchador climbed back into the ring and proceeded to deliver German suplexes to Corbin. He then followed it up with an Angle Slam which is what really gave away who was under the mask. After eliminating Corbin, the mystery competitor removed his mask and revealed that he was, in fact, Kurt Angle. The Olympic gold medallist has returned from vacation.
Or has he? Backstage after the match, Angle revealed that he is actually still on holiday from the GM job and left the arena. He will be competing at Crown Jewel in the World Cup though. Prior to Monday night, Angle hadn't competed in a match since the Greatest Royal Rumble. He hasn't competed in a singles match whatsoever since his WWE return. That will obviously change at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia.
