WWE announced Friday that Hall of Famer Kurt Angle will announce the opponent for his retirement match at WrestleMania 35 on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw.

Angle announced on the most recent episode of Raw that he'll be retiring from in-ring competition after WrestleMania. The 2017 Hall of Fame inductee is now 50 years of age and has had to deal with multiple injuries in the years - thus limiting his abilities in the ring.

There have been multiple opponents rumored for Angle since he made the big announcement earlier this week. 16-time World Champion John Cena has been mentioned, while Ringside News reported that a bout between The Undertaker and Angle was discussed. However, The Deadman wasn't interested in doing the match - eliminating one possible opponent for the Olympic gold medalist.

Angle returned to the WWE two years ago and took over as the new general manager of Monday Night Raw. He has since wrestled a few matches the odd time, but the wrestling legend has simply decided that it's time to stop putting his body through much and go out while he's ahead.

Though Angle's tenure as GM of Raw was received well by fans and pundits, he was ordered by Stephanie McMahon to go on a "vacation." Constable Baron Corbin would take over GM duties, and Angle would return weeks later to earn a spot in the World Cup tournament at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view.

Angle's overall return to the WWE -- both as a wrestler and the GM - has been a massive success. Though he's planning to retire from in-ring action, it's possible that he'll stay on with the WWE in another role - perhaps as the GM of Raw or something else backstage.

What This Means

Countless fans are anxiously awaiting the name of Angle's opponent, but we thankfully won't have to wait much longer. Fans just have to hope that no matter who the challenger is, he will help Angle go out on a very high note. The Hall of Famer certainly deserves that more than anything.
