The talks surrounding San Antonio Spurs' star Kawhi Leonard are getting serious, and if speculation the Los Angeles Lakers franchise is where he lands,  it appears the Lakers are prepared to offer Brandon Ingram as part of the deal.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, "The Lakers are willing to include former No. two overall pick Ingram and a future first-round pick in a package for Leonard, but the Spurs are seeking a far more complete haul of Lakers young players and future picks, league sources said." While the final details of a deal are not known, most are calling what the Lakers are trying to put together a  "Godfather" deal (an offer so good that it can't be refused). The reason stemming from the fact the Spurs were not interested in trading Leonard to a conference rival and the Lakers are trying to change their minds.

Despite the fact that a trade to the Lakers is not ideal for the Spurs, who would have to face Leonard multiple times, Leonard has made it public he intends to sign in L.A. come free agency next season and the Spurs could wind up with quite the assets for a quick rebuild if they have players like Dejounte Murray, Lonnie Walker, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart to get things rolling.

What's also interesting here is that on Thursday, it was reported the Spurs were finally done trying to mend any possible relationship with Leonard and now understand a trade is their best option. Thus, it's not just the Lakers the Spurs are talking to.

Wojnarowski reported, "The Spurs are fully engaged in trade talks with several teams on Leonard, including the Lakers and [Boston] Celtics, league sources tell ESPN. Boston has long had the assets that the Spurs most covet in a potential Leonard trade."

What makes Boston and L.A. different is the willingness of the Lakers to give up multiple assets confident that Leonard will sign a long-term extension. The Celtics are not as eager to give up multiple pieces for a one-year rental.
