LeBron James has admitted that he nearly broke down during the Los Angeles Lakers' struggles earlier this season.

The King's arrival in L.A. was expected to spark a resurgence for the previously dominant Western Conference side. However, it's clearly still a work in progress for James and his new team, who have won three successive games since acquiring 18-year veteran center Tyson Chandler.

The four-time MVP spoke to Yahoo Sports after the Lakers' win over the Kings in Sacramento on Saturday night and revealed that he had to recollect himself after nearly cracking under the pressure amid their poor form.

‪“I haven’t changed anything outwardly, but you know me. You know how I am. I almost cracked [last week]. I had to sit back and remind myself, ‘[Expletive], you knew what you were getting yourself into,’” he said with a laugh. “This process has been good for me. I just have to continue being patient.”

‪“I had to regroup and remember this is a young team. We’re playing some good ball right now and we’re starting to build some good habits. That’s all that matters right now.”‬

Prior to that, LeBron had warned reporters they would have to remain at a safe distance if his patience ever ran out. “You probably don’t want to be around when my patience runs out," he said after losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves two weeks ago. "I’m serious.”

The Lakers have made some changes since then, bringing Chandler in following his buyout from the Phoenix Suns. And the center's impact has been massive.

It was Chandler's blocking of Trae Young's attempt that sealed a win for the Lakers after LeBron missed to clutch free throws but scored on a putback against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night. And James seems very happy to have him around.

‪“He’s huge,” the forward declared after the marginal victory. “We knew we had a spot that needed some reassurance, and for us to get Tyson in the fashion that we got him and to be able to implement him right away and the impact that he’s made in these three games thus far, it’s great.”‬
