Say what you may about new Los Angeles superstar LeBron James, but there's no denying his status as a stand up guy.

Since storming into the NBA 15 years ago, the three-time champion has done a lot in terms of giving back and you'd have to look around for quite some time to find someone who would dare question his personality.

So it's no surprise he sent Dejounte Murray a heartfelt message of support after learning the San Antonio Spurs guard will probably miss the season after tearing his ACL in a preseason game.

Murray was playing against the Houston Rockets on Sunday when he slumped to the floor in agony after an attempted drive to the basket. Despite being able to walk off the court with some support from his team's medical staff, it was later announced that the player had suffered a nasty ACL tear and will face a lengthy period on the sidelines.

"Man I feared that would be the case when I saw the play! F*#% man!," LeBron posted on Instagram this week.

"Lil bro you’ll be back stronger, quicker, faster and more athletic when you return. Just remain patient and confident throughout this entire process!

"Minor setback for major comeback. You know how to reach me and where to find me if needed. Love lil bro!"

The 22-year-old point guard was expecting a big third year with the Spurs after averaging 8.1 points and 2.9 assists during the 2017-2018 regular season. And, with Tony Parker having left the side over the summer, there was a real opportunity to establish himself as a prime option under Gregg Popovich.

However, he remains upbeat in light of the circumstances and has tweeted that this injury is simply another challenge he will rise above.

"I Been Beating The Odds And Handling Adversity My Whole Life," the guard tweeted on Monday. "I Got No Choice But To Bounce Back. Thanks For The Prayers!"

Spurs have also lost Lonnie Walker IV to a knee injury ahead of the season, but it's not as bad as Murray's and he is expected to be back in six weeks.
