LeBron James was full of praise for Lonzo Ball after the young point guard's big night for the Los Angeles Lakers as they toppled the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night.

Ball recorded a triple-double against the Lakers' weekend opposition and joined James, who had a triple-double himself, to become the first pair of Lakers teammates to achieve such feats in the same game since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson.

LeBron got there first but noticed his younger colleague was close to one as well. Ball needed three rebounds and two assists.

The instructions were simple. "Go get it," LeBron told the second-year point guard.

And got it Lonzo did.

The 21-year-old ended the game with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, earning some high praise from his superstar teammate, who compared the younger Ball to himself.

“We’re one and the same when it comes to our playmaking ability," James told the Los Angeles Times. "We’re always looking for our teammates and that’s the greatest satisfaction we can have when we see our teammates score the ball. We’ve always been pretty good rebounders for our position, him at the guard spot, me at the forward spot. And then being able to put the ball in the hole as well. We just try to be aggressive, attack the rim, make shots from the outside when guys disrespect us and we showed all of that tonight.”

Ball seemed like he needed a pinch after his historical night alongside his new mentor.

“Ever since he got here it’s been a dream come true for me,” the guard declared. “I watched him my whole life; he was my idol growing up. Then we both get a triple-double in the same game. I don’t even know if I dreamed of that before.”

What This Means

The Lakers are much improved since October and are only 1.5 games off of the top in the Western Conference. Of course, it helps that they have a player like James under their employ. But Ball and Kyle Kuzma have been especially impressive.

LeBron has some good years left in him still, but Los Angeles could still be in a very good place by the time his Lakers career is over, given what we've been seeing from the talented youngsters so far this season.
