There's been plenty of hype around Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball, but the media darling obviously isn't going to emerge as the face of the franchise with LeBron James producing at an MVP level.

Though LaVar Ball hyped up his oldest son to the max (before and after the 2017 draft), Lonzo hasn't quite reached superstar status yet. It's obviously difficult when you're trying to work around a basketball icon like James. That being said, The King is impressed with what he's seen from his young teammate so far.

"I think Zo, I think he just sometimes he doesn't realize how great he is, James said, via ESPN.com's Dave McMenamin. "The things that he possesses out on the floor, when Zo realizes how good he is on the floor, it makes him a very dynamic player, and it makes us even better. And he's been doing that as of late, his aggressiveness."

Ball - whom the Lakers drafted with the No. 2 pick last year - is averaging 8.2 points, 4.8 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game. James' comments about Ball came after the Lakers' 90-83 road win vs. the Utah Jazz.

The latter contributed nine points and 10 rebounds - one of his finer performances on the young season. After a slow start, the Lakers now sit at 11-7 - placing them seventh in the Western Conference right now.

Los Angeles refused to deal any of their young players in a Kawhi Leonard blockbuster trade this offseason, which is a sign that they're still being patient with the likes of Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Brandon Ingram.

What This Means

James emphasized that it would take time for the Lakers to gel together, and we're finally starting to see the chemistry grow. Ball has taken some strides in his second season, but he's not quite All-Star caliber.

But we know the skills are there for Ball to emerge as a top point guard in today's NBA. With James working alongside him, it's only a matter of time until Ball finally breaks out as one of the NBA's top playmakers.
