Kyrie Irving has long gotten over his slump this season and is back to being the Boston Celtics' best player.

The point guard struggled to find form in the early going but is his regular self again, a change which seems to coincide with his haircut a few weeks ago.

Irving was at his unstoppable best on Friday night against the Toronto Raptors, a team now thought to be contenders for the Eastern Conference's top spot, scoring 43 points and making 11 assists to lead the Celtics to a 123-116 overtime win.

Irving's performance left little to be desired and many impressed, including his former partner in crime LeBron James.

The pair won a title together in Cleveland before the guard requested a trade, something reported to be brought about by his desire to step out of LeBron's shadow and become the focal point on a team. But there has been little evidence of animosity between the two stars since then.

James was apparently watching keenly as Uncle Drew went to work against the Raptors on Friday and praised his old running mate for his incredible showing via Twitter.

With James having joined the Los Angeles Lakers during the summer, the former teammates are playing for the two teams with the biggest rivalry in NBA history, yet that hasn't changed the forward's attitude toward his ex-colleague.

The sides will only meet twice this season and won't butt heads until February, and LeBron will likely hope to find a subdued Kyrie when he takes his Lakers side to the TD Garden.

However, it just seems like a match in which the former Cleveland guard will look to offload his entire arsenal.

What This Means

Irving was unable to improve on Friday's performance and is coming off a disheartening Saturday night loss to the Utah Jazz that saw him pick up five fouls.

Brad Stevens' men had collected victories from two consecutive games before their latest disappointment, but their falling to Utah proved that there are still kinks to be worked out.
