LeBron James opted out of his $35.6 million club option for the upcoming 2018-19 season, and the sweepstakes for the three-time NBA Champion may be down to just two teams now.

According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com (h/t Ryan Cole of Bleacher Report), James is "pretty focused on" either returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers or going out west to join the Los Angeles Lakers.

James has been heavily linked to the purple and gold throughout the past several months, with rumors that he'd love to live in Los Angeles - where he has plenty of business expenditures - and hopes to start up a production company. With the Lakers the favorites to land San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard and among the suitors for Paul George, LeBron has good reason to consider L.A.

But LeBron also seems to feel the desire to stay with his hometown Cavaliers. When he opted to leave the Cavaliers for the Miami Heat in 2010, The King's label went from good guy to the league's ultimate villain.

But the Golden State Warriors completely dominated the Cavaliers in the 2017 and '18 NBA Finals, winning in five and four games, respectively. It's obvious James needs plenty of more star power if he wants to chase more championships with Cleveland, but the front office has very little cap room to work with.

James turns 34 years of age in December, so he only has so many years left to chase championships. But if he feels the need to stay around in Cleveland, he could always return on a one-year deal and test free agency next summer.

The Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets and Boston Celtics were among other teams rumored to be in the running for LeBron. But now, it looks like only the Lakers and Cavaliers are in the running.
