The Los Angeles Clippers are playing like they can become a sleeper contender in the Western Conference.

The Clippers latest example of this came in their previous game against the San Antonio Spurs. They controlled the majority of the game and ended up taking the victory by a score of 116-111.

This marks the third game in a row where the Clippers have been the underdog at home against a top team in the league, and have still been victorious. The most impressive wins so far this season have come against the Golden State Warriors and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Both victories came in overtime against two of the top teams in the league. The Clippers now feature a record of 7-1 at home this season, while also owning a record of 5-1 in their last six games.

Tobias Harris and Lou Williams lead the way for this Clippers team this season, and yet they still get underappreciated around the league. Williams won the Sixth Man of the Year award last season, but he's been so much more to this team than just a bench player.

Williams plays a lot more minutes than a regular bench player does. He is averaging fewer minutes this season than compared to last. Last season, he was averaging 32.8 minutes per game compared to this season where he is averaging 26.4 minutes a game.

However, you can look to the Clippers latest game to even see how important Williams is to this team. He played 28 minutes coming off the bench while leading the team in points with 23. The game-clinching shot also came from Williams with just seconds left to go in the game.

Basketball Insiders

Another reason why this Clippers team can become such a threat in the West is because of their depth. The Clippers use a very balanced attack with their roster, so that they don't suffer from an off night from their regular contributors.

Whether it is Harris, Williams, Patrick Beverley, Danilo Gallinari, Montrezl Harrell, or 2018 first-round pick Shai Gilgeous-Alexander the Clippers haven't been lacking on offense at any point this season.

If the Clippers can continue on this pace for the rest of the season, they will be a team that no one will want to face in the first round of the playoffs.

WHAT THIS MEANS

The Clippers currently sit fourth in the West with a record of 9-5, and they have the potential to finish the season right behind the Warriors and Rockets. They will need to stay healthy in order to sustain their balanced roster.

But, if they do finish third in the West they will definitely be a capable team of surprising a lot of people around the league. Especially, with their style of play and how deep of a roster they actually have.
