Dallas Mavericks teenage sensation Luka Doncic is very open to the idea of playing alongside LeBron James.

The rookie, who has already become a star in his own right just months into his career as an NBA player, has garnered high praise from King James, who named him among players he would be thrilled to play with.

LeBron recently came under criticism for saying that it would be amazing if he were to team up with Anthony Davis in Los Angeles. And the superstar forward responded by saying there's nothing wrong with wanting to play with other stars.

"Ask me would I like to play with Kevin Durant? Absolutely. Ask if I'd like to play with Jimmy Butler. I'll say it right now. Ask about Kyrie Irving, Giannis. Ask me about Embiid, Ben Simmons, all of 'em. Luka Doncic. Ask me right now. Come on, guys, it's not rocket science," James said.

"These are great players, absolutely. I'd love to play with a lot of great players. It's just who I am. And I play by the rules."

Doncic, who has also been compared to LeBron, seemed quite hopeful after being asked how he feels about playing with the four-time MVP. "Maybe one day," he said, per The Athletic's Tim Cato. "We'll see."

The 19-year old has made no secret of his admiration for the Lakers star, who he claims is his idol. And he has admitted that it's quite flattering being mentioned in the same breath as one of the NBA's greatest-ever players.

“I mean, it’s amazing,” he said. “You all know that he’s my idol, so it’s just amazing to be there.

“That’s special, special to me. … I see what they say, so it’s like even more and more energy to work harder to be a better player.”

What This Means

LeBron and Luka will likely never get to play on the same team, unless it's All-Star weekend. The Slovenian has already succeeded Dirk Nowitzki as the face of the Mavericks while James - already 33 - is in year one of a four-year deal with the Lakers.

It would be nice to see them team up sometime in the future. However, it just doesn't seem possible at the moment.
