For the longest time, it didn't sound like AEW was even considering bringing in Tessa Blanchard to join their Women's Division. But, that thinking may be a bit premature. Recent reports suggest, at the very least, there are conversations being had about the idea.

But, if Blanchard joins the roster, it won't be because the decision was unanimous. Apparently, there's some backstage dissention in AEW about the idea of bringing in Blanchard. as some behind the scenes are interested and some aren't.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, influencers backstage are trying to sell the idea of making an offer. Others are pushing back against the idea considering the allegations of bullying and racial discrimination that have followed her around over the past year. Blanchard has her father close as Tully is part of the AEW roster, but AEW President Tony Khan has been very quick to publicly admonish wrestlers who have been associated with racial allegations, including Hulk Hogan.

Meltzer notes, "AEW has people who really want Tessa Blanchard in but feel that they can’t do so." The debate becomes, how important is it for AEW to better a lackluster women's division by adding someone with Tessa Blanchard’s abilities versus allowing the PR that will come with the rumors of a bad reputation?

AEW Can't Go Back If They Go There

If the company thinks that Blanchard is guilty of the allegations against her, it would be a mistake to go there. If for no other reason than the fact that once you bend a rule for someone, you'll either need to bend it again or explain why you caved on your stance. At the same time, if adding her causes a rift in the locker room, it's probably not a wise decision.

That said, if they don't think she did what she's accused of and have seen no evidence to back those claims, they shouldn't fear making a decision that is best for business.
