There are plenty of people behind the scenes in WWE that think rebooting the Nation of Domination would be a terribly bad idea.

It was reported earlier this week that WWE was considering a rebirth (of sorts) to the Nation of Domination faction that was extremely popular in WWE over 20 years ago. A faction that helped launch the careers of The Rock and Mark Henry, WWE has been contemplating giving new life to the faction through WWE Superstars MVP, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and whoever else might join. The idea really gained steam when Ron Simmons was on Raw this week.

More to Simmons appearance, Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry was also brought to RAW for the kick off to the Nation of Domination idea but Henry did not appear on camera. Whether or not he does for future episodes is unclear, since Raw was taped one week in advance.

There is also talk that the NOD angle may have been dropped, considering more than a few people backstage have pointed out to those who were behind the move that this could be an extremely dangerous time to reboot a faction that was very political in nature. Even if a strong talker like MVP or Simmons were leading the faction, one wrong sentence could go badly for the people involved and the company.

In fact, some have said that re-doing the Nation of Domination storyline right now would be incredibly insensitive.

So What's The Plan?

If Raw next week doesn't make any connections or associate any of the star with the Nation group of old, it's likely WWE has dropped the idea altogether. Perhaps they were simply testing the waters by having Simmons appear.

But, if there are more hints next week, this could be an idea WWE pursues in spite of the kickback coming from people backstage.
