Mike and Maria Kanellis recently signed new multi-year contracts with WWE, despite speculation and hints that the popular wrestling couple were on the way out.

After receiving very little pushes from the creative team, it looked as though WWE was finally going to change all of that. The Kanellis' appeared on Monday Night Raw this week to confront Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch - arguably the two biggest superstars in WWE right now.

Rollins and Lynch defeated the Kanellis' in a mixed tag team match, which ended when the Raw Women's Champion made Mike tap out. An angry Maria then berated Mike and announced that she was pregnant. Not only that, but Maria told her husband that Lynch was "the only man here tonight" and that "maybe" she'd ask The Irish Lass Kicker to "impregnate" her.

According to Brad Shepard of Oh, You Didn't Know (h/t Ringside News), WWE isn't pleased with Maria's decision to reveal her pregnancy on live television:

“According to a source in WWE, the company is upset about Maria announcing her pregnancy after her and her husband re-signed new contracts. The source described them as (expletive) and said ‘not to expect a significant push anytime soon.’"

Maria has since confirmed on her Instagram page that she is pregnant with her and Mike's second child. WWE.com has since released a statement to congratulate Mike and Maria. Their first, a daughter named Fredrica Moon, was born in April of last year.

The Kanellis' were only seen on television sporadically while Maria was pregnant with their first child. It's likely that she'll go on hiatus for several months very soon, and it wouldn't be a surprise if Mike also took a lengthy break to be with his wife. Until then, it'll be interesting to see what WWE does with them on television - since there isn't anything long term that the creative team can plan for Mike and Maria.

What This Means

WWE can't do a whole lot of planning with Mike and Maria now, since they're both going to be gone for a considerable amount of time. Creative might try to set up the start of a feud for Mike and Maria that can continue once they return, but that seems highly unlikely. We'll see what happens with the duo over the coming weeks before they take time off.
