Maria Kanellis has responded to rumors that she and her husband Mike have requested their release from WWE.

All Elite Wrestling may have only been around for a few weeks, but there are already rumors circulating about who might join the promotion. A handful of signings have been announced and basically anyone else whose contracts are expiring soon have been linked with AEW. That includes Superstars under contract with WWE.

That's why rumors that certain WWE Superstars have requested to be released from their contracts this week has set off some alarm bells. The rumors started with The Revival, and then Mike and Maria Kanellis's names were also thrown around. At the time of typing this, whether any of those four wrestlers have actually asked to leave WWE has not been confirmed. However, Maria Kanellis has responded to some of the social media talk.

RUMOR: MIKE AND MARIA KANELLIS HAVE REQUESTED TO BE RELEASED BY WWE

Kanellis felt the need to respond after a fan on Twitter questioned why she was so excited about being added to WWE 2K19 as a playable character. That prompted her to quote the tweet and write "everyone thinks they know everything...it's social media not an autobiography." The former Impact Knockouts Champion then posted a series of other tweets regarding her and her husband's career.

Kanellis highlighted that her husband never went to rehab, but they worked through his issues together while still getting on with their lives. She also pointed out how supportive WWE has been of her and Mike during that time and while she was pregnant/since having her baby. Kanellis certainly made it sound as if she and Mike are happy with their current lot in life, which includes being WWE Superstars, but did not out and out say that they are not planning to leave sometime soon.

Whether any of the four Superstars mentioned above are on the verge of leaving WWE or not, the mere presence of AEW appears to be changing the business already. Chris Jericho revealed on his podcast this week that his AEW contract is the best of his career. Anyone currently working with WWE who believes they deserve more must have at least had their interest peaked by that comment. The Revival, and Maria and Mike Kanellis certainly fall into that under-utilized category if you ask us.
