A build-up of injuries caused Mark Henry to one day decide that he had simply had enough. That's why he didn't have a retirement run or match.

Mark Henry's career will be remembered for a number of things. While he wasn't necessarily as clever with tweaking his character as wrestlers like Chris Jericho and The Undertaker are, he certainly utilized that skill to keep himself relevant. His in-ring career with WWE spanned more than two decades, that's more than most can boast.

From Sexual Chocolate to The World's Strongest Man to inducting people into his Hall Of Pain. It is certainly a Hall Of Fame worthy career, an honor he received earlier this year. All of those memories from Henry's WWE career, and the one that stands out above all others was his "retirement." A teary Henry came to the ring on Raw and explained to the fans that he was done competing, only to reveal that was a lie and slam an incoming John Cena.

That was in 2013. Henry would continue to compete for another four years. In fact, he actually wrestled at the Greatest Royal Rumble earlier this year. However, he does consider himself retired now. During an appearance on E&C's Pod Of Awesomeness this week, Henry revealed the moment he knew his in-ring career was done, and what he told Vince McMahon at the time.

"It wasn’t heat with the company or nothing like that. I just told Vince. I was like, ‘Man, I’m done. I don’t want to wrestle no more,'," Henry explained on the podcast. Edge and Christian asked why he didn't have a retirement match, and the former World Champion was hurting so much that he didn't want to wrestle even one more time. Henry listed all of the injuries he wrestled through, saying "even though I healed up and came back, I was still in pain all the time."

Perhaps the most telling thing Henry revealed during the interview was that since having his knee fixed recently, he feels the best he has felt since he was in WWE developmental. That was more than 20 years ago. That new feeling has led to him reconsidering what's next. Henry admitted he feels as if he still owes fans that last match and that he hasn't completely ruled it out.
