As the Philadelphia 76ers continue to decide what their next plan of action is for sophomore point guard Markelle Fultz, who's both injured and the subject of trade rumors.

While Fultz continues to recover from thoracic outlet syndrome (which causes pain and numbness in the neck, fingers and shoulder area), the Detroit Pistons appear to have their eyes set on the 20-year-old point guard.

According to Dave Early of Liberty Ballers, the 13-13 Pistons and Orlando Magic "have interest" in Fultz. As Early points out, Detroit's assistant GMs -Malik Rose and Sachin Gupta - used to work for the 76ers.

The Pistons will be in need of a new point guard with Reggie Jackson's contract expiring after next year. Though Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond have formed one of the most dominant front court duos in the NBA, the Pistons are lacking production from the point guard position.

Drafted first overall by the 76ers in 2017, Fultz has averaged 8.2 points per game, 3.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game through 19 games. It was originally reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that Fultz will be out three-to-six as he goes through physical therapy to deal with TOS.

There have been rumors that the 76ers will look to trade Fultz, given his lack of development in the midst of his second NBA season. The 76ers are already emerging as a title contender with Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler.

What This Means

The 76ers have gotten by just fine without a productive Fultz, so if management feels inclined to give him a fresh start, then perhaps the Pistons will do everything they can to swing a deal for him.

It's unknown what the asking price would be for Fultz. Even though he's injury-prone and hasn't been producing much, this is a first overall pick that has plenty of upside. The 76ers aren't just going to give him away.

But few teams are in desperate need of a point guard like the Pistons, so few teams make more sense as a landing spot for Fultz. We'll see how it plays out in the coming weeks as Fultz's return looms.
